Blackpool Football Kit
Blackpool wore a number of different colour football kits before changing to their tangerines shirts. In ther 1980’s Blackpool wore blue and white striped football shirts, they then opted to wear either red or white football kits at the turn of the 20th century. Blackpool even wore red, yellow and black kits during World War One. After the war Blackpool played their football wearing an all white football strip.
Blackpool started wearing their traditional tangerine football kits for the 1923-24 season. They changed their football kit colour after a recommendation from referee Albert Hargreaves, who had recently officiated a Holland football match and was impressed by the Dutchmen’s football shirt colours.
Blackpool’s board introduced a new football kit colour in 1934 when the team played in alternating dark and light blue stripes. This kit design was later removed as the home kit colour on 1939 due to public pressure, where the tangerine strip was re-introduced and has been used ever since. The dark and light blue striped football kits have been used as the clubs away kit several times since the mid nineties.
Blackpool have advertised a number of sponsors on their football kits from 1979 and onwards. Easywear was the clubs first sponsors from 1971 to 1981. The clubs current shirt sponsors are Floors-2-Go.
