Arsenal Football Kit

Arsenal's home football kit colours have been bright red shirts with white sleeves and white shorts. The choice of red is in recognition of a charitable donation from Nottingham Forest, soon after Arsenal was formed in 1886. The shirt was redcurrant, and was worn with white shorts and blue socks.

In 1933 Herbert Chapman updated Arsenal’s football kit by adding white sleeves and changing the shade to a brighter red.

Arsenal's home football kit colours have been the inspiration for at least three other clubs; Sparta Prague, Hibernian and Sporting Clube de Braga.

Arsenal's away football kit colours are traditionally yellow and blue. Since the early 1990s the away kit colours have been changed regularly. The away colour football kits in this period have either been designed with two tone blue designs or variations of the traditional yellow and blue, such as the gold and navy football strip used in the 2001-02 season. Arsenal sported a different style of kit for the 2007-08 season by wearing white football shirts, redcurrant shorts and hooped white and redcurrant socks.

Arsenal’s third football kit for the 2007-08 season consists of redcurrant and obsidian hoops and will be used when their other kits clash with their opponents football kits and used for their away Champions League matches.
