Manchester United Football Kit

During its days as Newton Heath, the football club's home shirts were yellow and green; this football kit was later re-introduced as an away football kit in the early 1990s. In 1902, when the club changed its name to Manchester United, the club changed their kit colours to red jerseys, white shorts and black socks, which has become the standard for most Man Utd home football kits since.

The most notable exception to the traditional all red Man Utd football kit, was the shirt worn in the 1909 FA Cup Final against Bristol City. The team wore white football shirts with red V-necks. This football kit design as later resurrected in the 1920s, before Man Utd soon reverted back to their all red shirts.

Manchester United’s usual away football kits are white football shirts, black shorts and white socks, however other colour kits have been used. These have included a blue and white football kit, an all black football kit and a navy blue and silver pinstripes football kit.

One of the most infamous Man Utd away football kits was the one worn in the 1995-96 season, Man Utd failed to win a single match while wearing the all grey kit, and it was quickly dropped.

Man Utd’s third football kit is traditionally an all-blue kit, in homage to the blue football shirts worn by the 1968 European Cup winners. Exceptions to the usual blue football kits have included a bright yellow kit worn in the 1970s and a white shirt with black and red pinstripes in 2004. Man Utd have also used their training football kits as third kits in the past.

Manchester United currently play in red and white football shirts with a white broken stripe and black trim on the reverse. Manchester United’s football kit is made by Nike and sponsored by AIG, with both logos appearing in white. Man Utd away football kit is similar in design to their home kit, but is black.
