Sunderland Football Kit
Sunderland began playing in an all-blue football kit, they then wore red and white halved shirts and finally settling on red-and-white stripes in 1887. Sunderland paraded this new kit in a football match against Notts Mellors. The famous red and white stripe football kits can be traced back to a gift from fellow North East team South Bank F.C. who helped Sunderland out when they faced financial difficulties. South Bank F.C. donated a set of red-and-white striped football kits, complete with black shorts. Sunderland have been wearing these colours ever since.
For the 2007/08 season, the away football kit is all white, which continues a tradition of Sunderland A.F.C. wearing the colour (the team wore white on the first game at Roker Park in 1898). Sunderland also have a all blue third football kit.
