England Football Kit

England have always worn white for their home football kit colours, except for one game, against Turkey in 1991, where England wore blue football kits.

England’s traditional away football kit colour is red. England did not need an away football kit until they played against a non-British side. England wore a blue away football kit from 1945 to 1952. England’s away football shirts remained red until 1992, when England wore light blue shirts with the three lions in dark blue. England also wore light blue shorts for two matches against Czechoslovakia and Spain. Again in 1996, England wore blue football kits again, with light blue and medium blue striped shirts and shorts. This England football kit was worn against Bulgaria, Germany and Georgia. The current England football kit is red.

England has occasionally worn a third football kit. In 1959 England wore blue football shirts with white shorts against Peru. During the 1970 World Cup, England wore a light blue football shirt third kit with shorts and socks against Czechoslovakia. England also had a football kit similar to Brazil's football kit, when they wore a yellow football shirt and blue shorts in 1973, worn against Czechoslovakia, Italy and Poland. During the 1986 World Cup, England had an unused light blue third football kit, but the kit was never worn as England wore their white football shirts for every game. The light blue shorts from this third kit were finally worn against Argentina. England had another unused third football kit during the 1990 World Cup, which was a blue football kit with the inscription "FIFA WORLD CUP ITALIA 90". This third kit was England’s last third football kit to be made.

Football History of England

The English national football team represents England in international football and is controlled by The Football Association (the FA), the governing body for football in England. Most national football teams worldwide represent a sovereign state; however the four "Home Nations" making up the United Kingdom are each represented separately in most international tournaments.

England won the FIFA World Cup in 1966 when hosting the event, they won the World Cup by beating Germany 4-2. England have reached the World Cup semi-final on one other occasion, in 1990.
